Well hello there! Welcome to Riley Writes, a (not so) fancy blog about stuff. I suppose in order to engage you into reading this blog, I should make my first entry pretty enticing. I will do my best to keep the mystery alive with you, my dear readers.
Let's start off with the basics, I transplanted from the Emerald City (Seattle) to the Emerald Coast (Pensacola Fl.) when I was 18 because I was completely heartbroken from dating and falling in love with a (presumably) gay guy. I moved in with my aunt and her roommate, made amazing friends and a support system I will never forget. I worked at coffee shops and bars. Got tattoos and sunburns. Drank delicious beer at my favorite bar in the whole world, tried that dating thing a bunch of times, started counseling. Kissed some frogs...okay, a lot of frogs and made even more friends! I experienced a lot of good but also a lot of bad which I am more than happy to share with you at a later date.
February 2011 rolled around and I met the love of my life while slingin drinks at a local dive. I laid eyes on him and it was instantaneous. After a month of chasing, I finally bagged my man and we married in December 2011, two days after Christmas. We spent half of our relationship together and the other half apart due to his schooling. In February of 2012, I moved to California to live out our first month of being married and living together in a small hotel room with two twin size beds, a bathroom without a fan and the acoustics of an opera house.
At the end of March, he finally received his orders and we were to report to Guam! Hooray for island life! Not so hooray for living with complete strangers for a whole month while we waited for our housing situation to be taken care of.
We have two puppies, a garden, a man cave and a sewing machine. Random assortment of things but we like it. We Crossfit, eat paleo(ish) and love drinking beer and bloody marys! I'm sarcastic and easily amused, I love to write and I hope you enjoy reading. Maybe this will entice you to come back and read again....and if it scared you off, my apologies but I don't think we could have been friends anyways.
Xoxo
